Leonard Robert Tunnah
Age 77 of Petite Riviere, passed away May 6th, 2023
peacefully with his family by his side.
We had to say
goodbye too soon to Leonard Robert Tunnah, born June 9th 1945 in
Halifax, Nova Scotia. Son of Helen and Len Sr., survived by wife
Carole Tunnah (Gray), and children, Kim, Michael and David. Many knew
him as Bobby nicknamed by his grandson or Bob by his friends. Bob
joined the RCMP after high school, following in his father’s
footsteps and had a successful career spanning 25 years and finishing
at the rank of Sergeant. Upon retiring from the RCMP in 1989, Bob and
Carole decided to move from southern Ontario back home to Nova Scotia.
Bob showed his children it was never too late to reinvent yourself by
operating a successful lawn care franchise that he owned until he
decided to fully retire in 2003. Upon retirement Carole and Bob got
back into traveling around the Maritimes in their 1973 MGB with the
BATANS club. They also started RV’ing and enjoyed many great
adventures including a trip to Alaska and numerous winters spent in
Florida making unforgettable memories.
Bob was a quiet
soul who took great pride in volunteering throughout his life. He gave
his time to Scouts Canada, Senior Wheels, Canadian Blood Services
(active donor), Wesley United Church and litter clean-up on Rissers
and Crescent Beach. He loved the outdoors whether it was gardening or
walking his Grand-dog Rollo on the beach. He discovered a love of
pickle ball later in life and loved the community that came with it.
He had a huge heart and was very proud of his family which was evident
in how he talked about and cared about us. Sadly, Bob was taken too
soon by cancer. He will be forever in our hearts and memories. Rest
easy Bobby, until we meet again.
The family would like to thank Dr. Samson, Dr. Martell, the
Victorian Order of Nurses, and Palliative Care and the community of
Petite Riviere, as well as family and friends for all the love and
support.
Memorial service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday in Wesley United
Church, Petite Riviere, Dana Pardy officiating. A Reception for family
and friends will be held at the Petite Riviere Fire hall following the
service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wesley United
Church, Souls Harbour Mission and South Shore Regional Hospital, or a
