It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rita, age 90 of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home and formerly of West Bay Road. She was the daughter of the late Margaret (MacDonald) MacKinnon.
Predeceased by her brothers; John, Neil and Robert, sister Nancy Marie. Grandparents Mary and John MacDonald, Aunts Anne Bosche, Mary Fortin, Maggie MacDonald, Catherine MacIntyre and Uncle Duncan MacDonald.
Surviving are Sisters; Florence (Donald) Gillis, South West Margaree, Marianne (Mike) Knuckle, Windsor, Ont. Brothers; Norman (Nancy) MacKinnon, Bell River, Ont. and Peter (The Late Lydia) MacDonald, West Bay Road. Several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her cousin Anne Marie MacInnis, Port Hawkesbury.
The family would like to express their thanks for the compassionate care Rita received from the staff of the Heritage House, Port Hood (1997-2016) and the staff at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held at Green’s Funeral Home on Thursday May 18th from 10am-12pm with Funeral Mass to follow at St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Hawkesbury; with Rev. Charlie Cameron and Deacon Berkley Guthro officiating. Interment will take place later that afternoon at St. Margaret’s Parish Cemetery, West Bay Road.
Donations in Rita’s memory may be made to the St. Margaret’s Parish Cemetery Fund, West Bay Road.
