It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Richard A. Northcott on May 4, 2023, surrounded by his devoted family at the Western Health Palliative Care Unit at the age of 79 years.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 58 years, Esther (nee Piercey). He will be sadly missed by his children: Linda (Lewis), Craig (Gloria), Pamela (Michael), Stacy (Sherry), Shelly (Vincent) and Penny (Geoffrey); grandchildren: Brady, Haley (Zachary), Dylan, Nathan, Kaylan, Claudia, Sara, Rachel and Rylan. He also leaves to mourn his sisters: Florence (Hughie), Effie (Guy), Daphne (Simeon) and Alfreda (Allan); brothers: Ed (Susanna), Ivor (Audrey), Walter (Mabel) and sisters-in-law: Josephine Northcott and Ida Northcott. He will also be missed by sisters-in-law: Ruby Chapman and Judy Piercey and brother-in-law Charlie Barter. He will be remembered by a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elsie Northcott, and Randall and Hilda Rossiter whom he was raised by from the age of 7 years, his brother Randall Northcott and sisters Ruby Barter and Myrna Northcott, brothers-in-law Tony Antle, Carl Young, John Chapman and John Piercey.
Richard will be remembered for his many talents. He started as an accountant with John Penny & Sons Ltd., then later on Fishery Products International in Ramea until his retirement. He was also a skilled taxidermist, an excellent carpenter and a gardener all his life. He loved his boat and his time spent at his cabin in White Bear Bay. He was also skilled in working with sealskins, making slippers, mittens, etc. Richard was also very passionate about researching his family history.
The family would like to offer sincere appreciation and many thanks to the wonderful staff at Western Health Palliative Care who took such great care and provided comfort to Richard and his family in his last days. Their compassion will always be remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at St. Boniface Anglican Church in Ramea at a time to be announced.
