Richard Smith March 20, 1952 – Feb. 2, 2023
We are sad to announce that our brother Richard, with his family by his side died on Feb. 2, 2023 of as severe pneumonia at the age of 70.
He was predeceased by his parents Alfred & Rose (nee Chabot) Smith; his sister Carole (Carole’s son Claude Degagné); his brother-in-law Harry Hughes and Jacques Larocque who had always been like a brother to Richard.
Richard is survived by his siblings Lise Thompson (Jack) of Kingston, Murielle Hughes of North Bay, Line Abraham (Dan) of North Bay, Pierre Smith (Sandra Rose) of North Bay and Gérald Smith (Monique Thibeault) of Hawksbury. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Richard kept a special place in his heart for his cousin Monique Chabot of Montréal.
Richard was born in Hearst. He moved to North Bay at the age of 12 and attended school in North Bay. For the last 46 years Richard worked and lived in Montréal, a city he loved. Due to an accident that caused a spinal injury, Richard fought everyday with courage, determination, tenacity and through it all never lost his faith in God.
A private funeral will be held at Hillside Funeral Services.
