Raymond Collingwood Carman
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Collingwood Carman of
Marmora on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Ray passed away peacefully with all of his loving family
by his side at the age of 82.
Cherished and beloved husband of Judy Carman (nee Harris) for 56 years. Ray will always be
loved and remembered by his children Carrie McColl (Peter), Julie Cooney (Marty), and Jason
Carman.
Proud and loving Papa to Catrina Gadway (Barclay), Aden McColl, Victoria Cooney, and
Julianna Cooney. We are currently awaiting the birth of his first great grandchild.
Ray was born on September 27th, 1940. He is predeceased by his parents Ross and Mildred
Carman (nee Nobes), his brothers Leonard Carman ( late Marie) and Doug Carman (Jean). Dear brother of Joyce Robinson (late Dan), Fay Catteau (Tim), Wilbert Carman (Cleo), and Thelma McGrath (Joe).
Ray grew up on the family farm and worked for Marmora Township and General Motors. After
he married Judy, the love of his life, they returned to the farm where he dairy and later beef
farmed for 53 years. Ray had a love for his work horses and roan coloured cattle. He thoroughly
enjoyed hunting with friends, the family cottage, pontoon boat rides, cutting wood, berry picking,
and playing cards and games with his loving grandkids and friends. He always spoke fondly of
his many trips with the family to Jamaica where priceless memories were made.
The family appreciates all the caring staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital IC unit, especially the
compassion shown by Dr. Pasha, his respiratory therapists, and his nurse Michael.
A heartfelt thank you is extended from our family to everyone who delivered delicious food,
cards, phone calls, and visits to share memories of Ray. A special thank you to Sue and Tim
Butcher for their presence and support for the entire time at the hospital and all others for their
calls, thoughts, and prayers during Ray’s stay at the hospital.
A visitation will be on Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at Rushnell Funeral Home in Marmora
from 12:30 – 2:00 pm. Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm followed by a luncheon at the Marmora District Community Center (Arena).
