Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Ralph Joseph McCormick announce his passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Saint John, NB to the late Charles E. McCormick and Marion R. Enslow on January 21, 1939. Ralph was first employed by the Commercial Union Insurance Company for five years and then went to work to the career he loved with the Saint John Fire Department where after 35 years of service he retired as a District Chief. Ralph loved spending time camping with his family at Pine Cone and after retiring enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey, entertaining his granddaughters with his one liners in the gazebo over a cup of tea and a package of jamjams. He also enjoying spending time with friends at the hunting camp, singing with the Men of Fundy, and travelling in his camper van along the coast with his wife Donna. What he saw as his greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband to Donna, a father to his four loving children and Papa to his grandchildren. He will be immensely missed by his wife Donna of 58 years; sons: Mark (Kimberly), Keith (Trish), and his only daughter Patti. He took pride in hearing of all the accomplishments of his family members, especially his grandchildren: Hannah McCormick (Knight McNally), Jacob Van Wart (Natasha McCluskey), Noah McCormick (Emily Quigley), Baylee Van Wart (Cecil McCavour), Benjamin Van Wart, Shawn Harriet, Michael Harriet (Natasha Gates-Harriet), Jeffrey Harriet (Mary-Katherine); great-grandson Henry; his sister Susan (James); sisters-in-law: Margaret McCormick (ON), and Dorothy McCormick (BC); brothers-in-law: Gary Lockhart and Dave Hubbard (Joan) (NY); as well as several loving nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his son Kevin; brothers: William, Gerard and David; sisters: Cecily, Judy, and Michelle. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, patience, his ability to make people laugh with his incredible sense of humour, and for always being ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Arrangements are being made under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, however at the family’s request there will be no visiting. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Spirit Parish on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Augustine’s cemetery.
