Keating (Miller), Pauline Lily “Polly” – Polly left this earth the same way she lived her life, on her own terms. She passed on March 28, 2023 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with the assistance of MAID.
Polly was born in 1942 in Noel Shore to the late Ernest and Ellen Miller. She completed her education at Hants North Rural High and went on to Miss Murphy’s Business College in Halifax. After graduation from Business College, she went to Ontario where she lived and worked for many years. When the place she had worked for 17 years closed down, she decided to move back to “The Shore.”
At the time when Polly moved home, office jobs were scarce, so she did housework and cleaning for regular clients on a weekly basis. She did this for a few years and then retired to the senior’s complex in Noel. She resided in Townsview Estates for the last 3-4 years.
Besides her parents, Polly was predeceased by brothers, Jack, Harry (Bernice), Frank and Lou; sisters, Ora (Fred) Nolan, Myrtis (Henry) Hennigar, Opal (Joe) Liutkus, Bertha (Ron) Hollingsworth and Aileen (Lester) Fahey; brothers-in-law, Ron Lamond, Harold Faulkner, Ray Dimock and Robert Borden.
Polly is survived by sisters, Erma Lamond, Upper Nine Mile River; Ruby (Faulkner) Dimock, Ontario; Kaye Borden, Truro; sisters-in-law, Babe Miller and Betty Miller; many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her son, Martin Harvey (Carolyn) and their children, Josh and Hannah in Ontario.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
There will be no funeral at her request. Her ashes will be interred at a later date.

  1. Polly was my biological mom. I never did meet her in person, but my family did make contact with her and exchanged messages, phone calls and gifts over the years. Carolyn, my wife, especially kept in touch with her and grew very fond of Polly. If not for Polly’s bravery and courage so many years ago, I wouldn’t be here and even more, I wouldn’t be here with my beautiful family. Thank you Polly and deepest sympathies to all of her family and friends from Martin, Carolyn, Joshua and Hannah.
