Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Paulette (Richard) Evans announces her passing on Friday, June 16th, 2023 at the North Bay Serenity Hospice after a long illness. She was in her 82nd year.
Paulette was born on June 20, 1941 to Adrien and Lucille (Plourde) Thériault (both deceased) in Edmundston, New Brunswick. In 1962, she married Paul Richard and they moved to Longueuil, QC where they welcomed their first child, Lyne. Paul worked for the Royal Bank of Canada and was frequently transferred. Paulette became quite proficient at setting up their home each time they moved! In 1970, they arrived in Timmins and in 1971, they welcomed their second child, Nathalie. After a few more transfers, the family settled in North Bay in 1980. Sadly, Paul passed away suddenly in 1989.
In 1993, she remarried to Joseph H. T. Evans (now deceased). Over the years, Paulette enjoyed camping with her family, needlepoint, dancing, curling and her beloved Bichon Frisés. The East Coast was never far from her thoughts and she certainly enjoyed a good lobster! In her later years, she preferred sharing meals with her family and enjoyed listening to music.
Paulette is survived by her children Lyne Kelly (Chris) and Nathalie Cormack; her grandchildren Michelle Kelly, Stéphanie Mitchell, Gabrielle Coombs (Jon) and Kyra Kelly; as well as Abigail Cormack. She was especially happy to be Gigi to Logan and Chloe Nelles; and Luca and Serena Coombs. She is survived by her sisters Rolande Belzile (Yvon), Pierrette Raymond, and Irene Thériault of New Brunswick and her brother Daniel Thériault (Cathy) of Alberta. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is pre-deceased by her two brothers Arthur and Paul Thériault.
Special thanks go out to Dr. Cowan who looked after Paulette for many years until his retirement and for Dr. Roscoe for his kindness and care for Paulette for the last year.
Lastly, the words “thank you” seem far too small to express our gratitude to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice. Every single person who cared for Paulette demonstrated incredible dedication to her comfort and care.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus church at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, which would have been her 82nd birthday and the family will receive friends and family at a luncheon after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nipissing Serenity Hospice in her memory.
