Obituary
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and friend – Paul Ryan, of St. Mary’s, St. Mary’s Bay, aged 66 years. Paul passed peacefully away Monday, January 9 2023 in the loving arms of his wife, and surrounded by family at the Miller Centre, St. John’s.
Pre-deceased by parents James & Margaret (nee Harvey) Ryan, brother Jim, sister Karen, father-in-law Kevin Critch, brother-in-law Kevin Critch Jr., sister-in-law Noreen Williams and many other relatives of the Ryan and Critch families.
Leaving to mourn the love of his life and wife of 40 years Betty Ann (nee Critch), treasured son Adam (Mandy), cherished grandson Jack, brothers Gerry (Sherry) and Tony (Judy); sisters: Anne (Gary), Sharon (Pat), Barb (Tom), Bernadette (Les), Kim (Sean) and Darlene (Neil), mother-in-law, Mercedes Critch; many wonderful sisters-in-law and brother-in-laws, including Karen’s husband John, uncle Allister (Thomasine), aunt Bernadette (Mike) and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially his close friend Edward Kielly.
We wish to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre, care worker Janet St. Croix and the staff of Gibbons’ Ambulance Service.
Paul was taken from us far too soon. His lighthearted spirit and ease of laughter will be tremendously missed by those of us who were so lucky to have been able to call him family and friend. We all cherished our time with Paul and although he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Paul will continue to live on through his family and especially in his grandson, Jack, of whom he thought the world – Little by little we let go of loss, but never of love.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s and Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, will be held at time’s to be announced. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the family in the care of Betty Ann.
