Outside of Pat’s passion for sports, Pat’s biggest love was for his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He also was overjoyed to have been given the gift of a great granddaughter, Anna. Pat loved nothing more than playing with his children, letting them comb his hair, dancing with them in the living room and watching then play their various activities.
Pat and Donna loved spending time and travelling around Newfoundland and all of its beautiful communities. You could find them both arse up picking berries in any berry field in Central NL. Pat loved walking his favourite dog Lucky, chewing Double Bubble and watching his beloved New York Yankees.
Pat had a love of all kinds of music, from Pavarotti to Country. He loved spending Sunday mornings doing the crossword and listening to the traditional Newfoundland music on the radio. You would often find Pat listening to Donna and Brad singing karaoke late into the night until hunger struck.
Pat was an active member of the community. He spent 20 years as a Gander Town Councillor championing projects like Cobb’s pond and the walking track at the Community Centre. Pat also spent considerable time volunteering and canvassing for other causes he supported including the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Salvation Army, the Knights of Columbus, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Kidney Foundation. Pat was a kind person. We were always amazed that everyone we encountered had such great words to say about him. There were so many people who were important to Pat. While we could not possibly mention everyone, he would tell you not to mourn but rather give thanks to the many blessing in your life and the loved ones around you.
