Patricia (Pattice) M.P. Hughes

Patricia (Pattice) Mary Powell (née Williams), age 91, lately of Stratford, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Married for 60 years to Donald Hughes (d.2021), she leaves her daughters Aphra, Chione (Paul Robinson), and Benedicta (Tom Diavolitsis), and her grandchildren Nicholas, Victoria, Hugh, Clemency, Isabel, Samuel, Jeremy, Oliver, and Esme. Predeceased by her son Joachim (1978) and daughter Tertia (1998). Pattice was born in Oxford, England, travelled the world, then settled in Canada. Funny, clever, and warm, Pattice presided over a large, happy household where friends were as welcome as family and there was always laughter around the table. She loved books and music. She had a wonderful voice and sang in many choirs. A firm advocate for girls’ education, she was very proud that all her daughters had university degrees. A private funeral will take place with immediate family and close friends only.
