Obituary
Patricia L. Kennedy
1936 – 2023
On February 1st, 2023, a little over a month shy of her 87th birthday, Patricia Loretta Kennedy passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born in Glenwood, NB on March 12th, 1936, she was the second oldest daughter of the late William and Isabelle (Conroy) Kennedy.
Patsy is survived by her much-loved grandchildren, Chaz and Olivia and son-in-law, Jeff LeBouthillier, all of Belleville, Ontario. She will also be remembered by her sisters Anne (Jeff) DeWolfe and Carmel (Gerald) Mullins, her brother, Bill Kennedy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She had a special bond with her great-nephew and niece, Mason and Delaney, whom she loved like grandchildren. She was predeceased by her one and only precious daughter, Michele Kathleen LeBouthillier, her sisters: Kay Bell and Rita Kennedy, and her parents.
Patsy attended Glenwood School and Saint Michael’s Academy then went to work in Toronto for several years. She returned to Glenwood and did bookkeeping for McCarthy Sales Ltd., JH Stewart Ltd., and Chatham Auto Body. A woman of great faith, she was a member of Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church and a volunteer at Saint Michael’s Museum and Gift Shop. Patsy was an avid card player for years, starting her playing career with the Glenwood Card Sharks. She loved to play bingo and spend weekly lunches with her special friends. A quick mind and a whiz with numbers and words, she could do crosswords and puzzles in minutes using a pen…no pencil and eraser for her! Her other interests included reading, genealogy and travelling to such places as the US, Mexico, Scotland and across Canada. She felt a strong connection to her Irish roots and was also able to make her way to see Ireland three times. Patsy loved to reminisce and tell stories (sometimes with embellishments!) and she loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. Her fierce independence allowed her to stay at home up until a week before her death. Her strength and resolve in facing her diagnosis and illness were admirable. She will be dearly missed but she was so looking forward to being reunited with her beloved Michele.
Patsy celebrated her life with a living wake this past summer enjoying fun and laughter with her family and friends. At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time.
Please Note: There will be a funeral service held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11 am with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to give many thanks to Dr. Kpogo, Dr. Slorach, the exceptional staff of the palliative care unit and clergy.
In Patsy’s memory, please do something kind or generous for someone else, as she did for so many of us.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
