COPLAND, Patricia
1949 – 2023
On Saturday, March 25, 2023, and only days after her 74 birthday, we lost our beloved mother. She was also a much loved wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and so many other things to so many people.
Mom’s greatest joy in her life was her family, she was never happier than when she could spend time surrounded by the people she loved. She never missed an opportunity to make her children and grandchildren feel special. Every end of summer was a reason for a lovingly planned and eagerly anticipated outing to go back to school shopping to celebrate the event, a ritual that Mom started with me and Sean, and continued through her grandchildren and even down to the eldest great grandchild’s first day of play school. Her newest loves – her “girl gang” of great granddaughters – were her constant delight. She seldom missed a chance for a cuddle or a giggle with the girls.
The farm was her home and her happy place, and everyone was always welcome there. So many afternoons were whiled away in the backyard that was full of trees and sunshine, as well as a trampoline and wading pools and any toys the kids may ask for. Papa Terry was always standing with her, ready to make the fire for an impromptu BBQ of smokies and hotdogs.
Along with her human family, Mom had a deep fondness for all animals. Her many dogs were like family too, and over the years she had so many – Snoopy, Ranger, Sawyer Brown, Barney and Ringo, to name several. Her cats were a source of constant amusement for all of us. She had Gracie and Max, but also had a seemingly never-ending cycle of barn cats with imaginative names like Whitey, Whitey Fluff, Grey and Grey Fluff.
We miss you, Mom. You are so loved.
