Patricia “Ann” Marie Preston, 71, of Brampton, passed away on February 9th. Ann fought a long and brave battle with cancer and passed with her daughter and best friend, Jennifer, at her side at Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket.
Born to Bernice and George Sutherland in Toronto, Ontario, Ann was a wonderful big sister to Billy and Bob Sutherland (spouse: Sharon Sutherland).
Ann was married in 1972 and had three wonderful children, Jennifer, Kimberley and David. Kimberley passed away after 3 months and David passed away in his 29th year in 2006.
In 1996 Ann and David headed to Calgary and lived there for several years, deciding to return to Ontario when Jennifer and her husband Mike welcomed Ann’s treasured grandchildren: Kayley and Alyssa. Ann, Kayley and Alyssa had a close and special relationship and Ann loved their talks and what could only be referred to as “Saturdays with Gramma.”
Jennifer, Kayley and Alyssa spent Saturdays with their Mom, and Gramma indulging in shopping, making memories and enjoying each other’s company.
Ann loved trying new crafts, she loved to knit, draw, paint and do puzzles. Ann also loved relaxing with Jennifer and watching some of their favourite shows. Toward the end of her life, Jen and Ann would spend time playing games and watching Food Network challenges because Ann loved to see the wild food creations and different locales, even though she herself was on a liquid diet.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, Bernice and George, her brother Billy, her son David, and her daughter Kimberley. She is survived by her brother Bob, daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Mike, granddaughters Kayley and Alyssa, as well as sister-in-law, nephews and friends.
The family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket in lieu of flowers.
