SCHADEL, Olivia Ashley
(August 25, 1988 -April 15, 2023)
It is with broken hearts, that we announce the passing of our precious loved one Olivia at the age of 34. She is the beloved daughter of Gabrielle Taffarel, much loved granddaughter of Ida (late Mario), and treasured niece of Michael (Lori), and dear cousin of Anthony. Cherished cousin also of (Mother Beatrice) Thomas, Louise (Steven), Danielle and Dean; Elizabeth, Destiny and Breanna. She will be deeply missed by her fur babies Diego and Lucy.
Olivia was an energetic child with an inquisitive brilliant mind and impish grin who loved to laugh exuding joy. She studied piano throughout her elementary school years and performed beautifully always attaining high marks. She enjoyed many athletic activities such as swimming, skiing, and tennis. She participated in track and fields meets most years, gong to OFSAA in 2007. Her love of gymnastics led her into competitive cheerleading as a base and tumbler in Thunder Bay in grades 9 and 10, then again in 2007 there, occupying the front and center ‘star’ position as well. Unfortunately, a devastating severe multiple concussion later that year, dashed her plans to continue competitive cheerleading at the university level.
Olivia excelled academically and went on to graduate from Western University, London, Teacher’s College, later obtaining her Masters in translation from Concordia University in Montreal. She loved her favourite subject Math, especially Calculus, priding herself on being able to present difficult concepts in various ways so that students that struggled could easily understand. She had a very strong work ethic and began her first part-time employment on her 15th birthday. There was so much to her to be proud of. We will remember Olivia always as the joy that she was before life went dark as she struggled with increasing depression, anxiety, and more. The tragic loss of friends, young lives gone too soon affected her deeply. She persevered through many disappointments, obstacles and challenges for years as her hope diminished.
We know she is now resting and at peace finally in the warm embrace of family loved ones that preceded her, especially her grandfather Mario, and best friends Adyti, Natalie and numerous others. Until reunited, we will hold her dear in our hearts, relieved that she is now safe in God’s loving care.
Cremation and a private family service have already taken place.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent Place or the Canadian Mental Health Association. (Payable by cheque).
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be.
So He closed His arms
Around you and whispered,
“Come to Me.”
