It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Normand Dupuis at the Temiskaming Hospital on Tuesday, January 17 2023, at the age of 81 years.
Normand was born on December 13, 1941, in Haileybury to the late Armand Dupuis and Beatrice Guenette. He is survived by his wife Marie-Rose Dupuis (née Boucher), their son Pierre (Wanda) Dupuis and their daughter Louise (Peter) Monk. Normand is also survived by his three grandchildren Ashley (Dan) Monk, Melissa (Markus) Monk and Ryan (Becca) Monk, and by his great-grandchildren Landen and Leah Laramée. Normand is pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Donald and sister Denise, and is survived by his brother Maurice.
Normand loved everything about nature; the sky, the water, the trees and the animals. He loved planting flowers and tending to the fruit trees in his yard, and had a special love for birds of all kind. He was an avid fisherman and small-game hunter, and would enjoy daily walks in the outdoors. He was extremely strong-willed and very optimistic up until the very end of his long battle with cancer. On the morning of his last day, he told us he was feeling “pretty good”.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sears and Dr. Bezner who took excellent care of Normand throughout his journey. And thank you to all of the nurses and staff at the Temiskaming Hospital who kept him comfortable in his final days.
To Normand, there were no such thing as “Goodbyes”. So instead, as he would say, “Bye for now”.
The Dupuis family will receive family and friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, Haileybury, on Thursday January 19, 2023 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Friday January 20, 2023 from 9:30 until 10:30am. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Église Ste-Croix Catholic Church, Haileybury, on Friday January 20, 2023 at 11:00 am with Brother Ghyslain Ndondji officiating. Interment will take place at the Cobalt Coleman Catholic cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
