Norbert was born Feb 19, 1964 at Melfort, Sk. As a child, Norbert along with his sister and parents moved many times across Canada. During grade 10, Norbert moved to Germany with his parents where he worked in a furniture store. He returned to Canada when he turned 18 years old, and lived in several locations before moving to Grand Rapids, Manitoba where he worked at the Manitoba Hydro generating station for several years. Norbert was unable to advance himself at Hydro due to his lack of a high school education. In 1987, Norbert moved to Winnipeg and completed his entire high school education in just one year. He then completed a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990.
Norbert moved to Saskatoon, Sk and earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in May of 1994.
As a Veterinarian, Norbert started work in The Pas, MB where he met the love of his life, Adrienne. Together they moved to Barrhead, Ab, then to Fisher Branch, Mb where Norbert ran his first animal Clinic, specializing in large animal Medicine, for 5 years. In 2003, they moved to Mitchell, Sd for another 5 years.
In 2008, Norbert and Adrienne moved to Orlando, Fl where he worked at several clinics, eventually purchasing The Animal Clinic of Wekiva. Together, they ran this clinic for 9 years, where they built many friendships with humans and animals alike. Norbert’s fun-loving personality and love of animals helped make this business flourish.
In December 2020, Norbert was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
In Aug 2022, they moved to Lloydminster, Ab to be closer to family.
Norbert had an amazing ability to focus, which was instrumental in not only his education and career, but in his many other interests including, computers, music, photography, motorcycling, scuba diving, fishing, travelling, home renovations, and anything that he set his mind to.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vegreville, Lloydminster, and Orlando Dialysis units, The Cross Cancer Hospital in Edmonton, and the many medical staff involved in Norbert’s care over the past 2 ½ years.
A private family service will be held at a later date where his ashes will be scattered at a non-specified location. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal humane society, or shelter of your choice.
