Obituary
Finley, Myrna Isabel – 88, Oxford. The family is sad to announce the peaceful passing of Myrna at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst on June 17, 2023. She was a daughter of the late James and Greta (Fraser) Graves. Born in Oxford, Myrna completed high school before attending business school in Truro. She and Colin married and moved to Halifax where they lived for 34 years before retiring back to Oxford in 1997. Myrna is survived by her son, Robert (Lori); daughter, Trish (Randy) Young; grandchildren, Mark (Rebecca), Shawn, Sammy, Nick (Al), Ryan; step-grandchildren, Joe (Nadia) Young and Melissa (Steve) Simpson; step great-grandchildren, Alistair, Lachlan and Jovy; sister, Nola (Douglas) Purdy; as well as in-laws, nieces and nephews. Myrna and Colin enjoyed traveling with family and friends. In earlier years, they would visit campgrounds in their travel trailer. Later, they spent summers at East Linden beach and would take special trips that included a few cross country journeys. Myrna was an avid reader. She loved chatting with her friends, watching curling, working on puzzles, playing cards, doing various crafts and forms of handiwork and mostly visiting with family and friends. Many have been gifted with pieces of her knitted, crocheted, quilted, crafted or detailed cross stitch work over the years. She took great pride in her work and keeping her home. She especially enjoyed serving her homemade sweets with tea to visitors while catching up on their news. Together, Myrna and Colin acquired many treasured good friends. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Colin (February, 2023); son, Ken (February, 2019); brother, Garth (1992); and brother, John, who passed in infancy. Myrna has dearly missed the companionship and loving support of her husband and life partner, Colin. While Myrna will forever be missed, the family is comforted knowing she is with Colin and their son Ken again. There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are under the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to their charity of choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their care and kindness to Myrna and also thank the many family and friends who visited, helped out and spent time with Myrna over the last difficult months and days.
