Passed away at Huronlea Home For the Aged, on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Alan Pearce, and the late John Jackson. Muriel will be dearly missed by her brother Rowland (Shirley) Kaufman of Wingham, sister-in-law Maria Kaufman of Trenton, nieces; Elizabeth Kaufman of Toronto, and Kelly Jefferson of Cardinal, nephews; Andrew Kaufman of Toronto, and William Kaufman (Irene) of Belleville. Muriel is predeceased by her parents William and Annie (nee Nichol), her brother William, and her dear canine companion Molly.
Muriel was an exceptional nurse and enjoyed a successful career. She taught in the RNA program and was a mentor to many nurses at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. When she moved to Sunrise of Burlington, Muriel could often be found caring for many of her fellow residents.
Together, Muriel and Alan travelled extensively on their motorcycles, even touring through Europe. In her later years Muriel would ride around the neighbourhood on her bicycle, taking the time to check in on her neighbours, running errands and purchasing groceries for them, with her dog Molly in tow in her parcel carrier.
Special thanks to the staff at Sunrise of Burlington, and Huronlea in Brussels for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral Service will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), in the Chapel on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Listowel will follow at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to the Burlington Humane Society or The Salvation Army would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
