Obituary of Morgan Jean Huigenbos
Morgan Jean Huigenbos (nee Agnew)
With deep sorrow the Huigenbos and Agnew families announce the passing of Morgan Jean Huigenbos (nee Agnew), age 39, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully next to her husband, Peter, in the early hours of May 16, 2023 in Kingston, Ontario after recently celebrating her 12th wedding anniversary.
Born on June 29, 1983 to Blake and Kathy Agnew (nee Crossman) in Brantford, Ontario, Morgan’s warmth and kindness won the hearts of everyone she met. She is survived by Peter and their children, Emmet and Cordelia, sister Paige Agnew (Patrick Large), father Blake Agnew (Wendy McIsaac), brother Michael Agnew (Holly), mother-in-law Leah Huigenbos, father-in-law John Huigenbos, brother-in-law Paul Huigenbos (Kristin), sister-in-law Peggy Bell (Brett), and many dear friends, neighbours, and family members, including her adoring nieces and nephew.
Morgan led her life with her heart, and in doing so, taught others to do the same. She moved with quiet purpose, always doing whatever was required to demonstrate the care and compassion she had for all those around her, never requiring thanks or recognition to confirm her impact. A natural athlete and art enthusiast, Morgan shared her gifts in her recent roles in childhood education, and strongly supported access to sports and the arts for all children.
Together with her family, Morgan led a fulfilling social life. She had a gentle and empathetic manner that drew in all those around her with a joy that was infectious. Her calm, patient, and tender approach provided comfort and support to her many family and friends – she was a beam of sunshine for others on an otherwise cloudy day. Morgan’s welcoming smile and legendary hugs will be missed by all who celebrated life with her, but especially Peter, Emmet, and Cordelia.
Morgan’s family expresses their sincere gratitude to the many close family and friends who have provided immense support to Emmet and Cordelia over the past three months.
A funeral service will be held at The Spire, 82 Sydenham St, Kingston, on Sunday, May 28th at 2:00 pm, followed by an opportunity for attendees to meet with the family and share condolences.
Morgan loved kids and devoted much of her time to St. Thomas More Catholic School and many youth teams and clubs. In her name, a foundation is being formed to provide just-in-time and ongoing financial support to the school and other organizations in the Kingston region that are focused on maximizing access to education, the arts, and play for children.
The Morgan Huigenbos Foundation will be formalized over the coming months and, in lieu of flowers, we ask that anyone wishing to make a pledge do so by emailing morganhuigenbosfoundation@gmail.com
