Diane Lynne Brown, passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on Saturday May 13, 2023 at the age of 74 with the love of her family and friends in her heart. Diane was born in Toronto, Canada on October 26, 1949, loved by her parents Hugh Brown and Florence Lucille Rice. Survived by her cousins Donald Faulkner (wife Valerie Faulkner and children Jennifer Actis and Timothy Faulkner) and Richard Faulkner (wife Joka Faulkner and daughters Kimberley Faulkner and Debbie Vivian).
Diane worked at Eaton’s Department Store as a Buyers Assistant where she spent quite a few years working with different products, finally ending up in the Hosiery Department. When Eaton’s had its family legal issues, most employees, including Diane, lost their jobs. However, she quickly was hired at The Bay, once again as a Buyers Assistant.
Diane was a long-time member of North Metro, a five-time International Champion Sweet Adeline’s Chorus, which sings a cappella music in the Barbershop style. Diane had a lovely ‘Lead’ (Soprano) voice and perfect pitch. She enjoyed travelling all over North America with the chorus, as it competed and performed shows both Regionally and Internationally. During these trips Diane travelled and roomed with the same group of women, all of whom became life-long friends of hers.
Diane was an active member at Parkdale United Church for many years. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank you for your expression of sympathy and prayers. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Diabetes foundation.
Visitation to be held on Sunday May 28, 2023 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Ogden Funeral Home in Scarborough – 4164 Sheppard Ave East, followed by a short service at 2:30 p.m.
