Obituary of Millie Sillett
SILLETT, Mildred (Millie) Astrid (nee Monsen), resident of Chatham, Millie passed quietly on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the age of 88.
Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan March 8, 1934, Millie was the eldest daughter of the late Olav and Astrid (Tyskerud) Monsen.
Beloved wife and best friend of 53 years of the late Frank (Sonny) Sillett. Loving and devoted mother of Karen Sillett-Andari and her husband Stephen Andari of Chatham, and Cherished Grandma of Joshua.
Loved dearly as a friend and second mom by Neil and Sue Woods and Carolynn and Ken Gregory of Chatham.
Special Grandma to Sarah Woods, David Woods, and Elyse Gregory.
Dearly loved sister of Mary Kerr (late Ken) of Belleville, sister-in-law Mary Ann Monsen (late David Monsen) of Edmonton, Aunt of Pamela Monsen, Stephanie and Shawn Stewart and great Aunt to Maxx Stewart.
Millie will be sadly missed like a sister by Bill and Anna Lamb, and many other dear friends and family.
Millie was a long time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (Gamma Upsilon Master Chapter), and her dedication to and sisterhood in that community will be missed.
She cherished her sorority sisters like family.
Millie retired from Union Gas in 2000 after working there for 30+ years and continued her work friendships with the Golden Genies Retiree Group.
Always a lady of quiet grace and strength, Millie was an inspiration to so many.
She relished every opportunity to watch Josh skate, play the piano, take him to his activities, and to update friends on his all achievements. Grandma was Josh’s biggest cheerleader.
Millie and Frank enjoyed many years of camping with the Kentario Kampers creating many friendships along the way.
Millie will be sadly missed by her family, extended family and friends. She loved them all with all her heart.
Friends and family will be received at the Funeral Home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00pm. Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 11:00am on Monday, January 9, 2023. Private family interment will follow at Morpeth Cemetery.
Donations to the Chatham March of Dimes or Meals on Wheels Chatham Kent in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
