Obituary For Mickie Lyn Liles-Blazicevic
October 30, 1962 – August 11, 2023
Mickie Lyn Liles-Blazicevic, age 60, passed away on August 11, 2023, far too soon for all of us who knew and loved her. She was a wife, mother, sister, daughter, auntie, and friend to many. Born October 30, 1962, in Waco, TX and daughter of a military officer, her family moved several times – Charleston, Spain, Germany and Spokane. Mickie lost her father, Air Force Major Robert L. Liles, Jr., in 1972 near the end of the Vietnam War.
Mickie enjoyed camping, skiing, and team sports- even running in the first Bloomsday Race. She especially loved playing club soccer, helping launch women’s high school soccer in Spokane. Mickie was a member of DECA, which laid the foundation for a successful life-long career in retail sales management. After graduation from Ferris High School 1980, she attended Western Washington University.
Mickie met her husband Mirko while working in the Alaska fishing industry. They raised their children Bree-Ana, Maureen, and Mitchell, moving from the Canadian shores of British Columbia to a bison ranch in northern Alberta. One of her many passions was cooking meals for family and friends.
We were extremely blessed to spend a wonderful week with Mickie and her daughter Maureen on our annual Montana Family Vacation the week prior to her passing. We loved every opportunity to share in family meals, pickleball games, swimming, and our golf tournament. We are comforted in knowing that we had this gift of time together.
Mickie is survived by her husband Mirko Blazicevic, daughters Bree-Ana Blazicevic, and Maureen (Owen) Liles-Blazicevic, her mother Toni Ganey and stepfather Mike Ganey, her 5 sisters: Carla (Pat) Percival, Wendy (Jeffrey) Liles, Cindy (Tom) Burrows, Jennifer (Jay) Leo, and Christine (Brian) Ganey Ellis. She also leaves behind 7 nieces and nephews.
Mickie was preceded in death by her son Mitchell Robert Liles-Blazicevic, her father Robert Liles, Jr., her grandparents Karl & Nora Schultz, and Robert & Myrtle Liles, as well as Mirko’s parents and siblings.
We appreciate the outpouring of love and prayers from our family, friends, and community. In accordance with Mickie’s wishes, the family will share in a private memorial.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mickie`s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
