It is with extreme heartbreak the family announces the sudden passing of their dear Michelle Matthys on June 16th, 2023 at the age of 40. Michelle was the proud mother of Marshal Cookson and Hunter Green, her fur babies, Tucker and Jersey. Michelle was the precious daughter of Janice (Dave Taylor) and Mark Matthys. Loving sister of Michael (Rebecca) Matthys and David (Chelsea) Matthys. Loving aunt of Alexis, Kaitlyn and James Matthys. Michelle will be sadly missed and always remembered by her many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Michelle’s most proud role in life was being a mom to her boys Marshal and Hunter. She grew them from scratch. Michelle spent years advocating for and caring for vulnerable members of our society, both professionally and personally. She was always willing to share her generosity with others. Michelle was a true and genuine friend and she was a sister and mother to so many throughout her life.
Michelle’s family wishes to extend their gratitude and thankfulness to all of those who positively supported Michelle with her mental health. A special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Parr and R.N Sherry.
Visitation will be held for Michelle, on June 20th, 2023 from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Thames Valley Addiction Services or the Women’s Rural Resource Centre. I am sincerely shocked to hear of Michelle’s passing and am so sorry for your loss. I hadn’t seen Michelle in a few years, but remember many times she spent with my daughter, Chandra. Words fail me, to lose someone so young is heartbreaking.
