Hewson, Michael George
A resident of Chatham, Mike Hewson passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Riverview Garden Nursing Home at the age of 84.
He was the son of the late James & Lucy (nee Groome) Hewson & in-laws, Lloyd & Emily (nee Dewar) Huff.
Mike will be dearly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Alice (nee Huff).
Brother of Janet Jamrosinski (Joe) & the late Rob Hewson (Agnes).
Brother-in-law of the late Betty Murray (the late Don), Marian Herr (the late Benson), the late Dorothy Grant (the late Allen), the late Barb Gilbert (Ralph) & Margaret Perry (Gordon).
Missed by many nieces, nephews & extended family.
Mike served with the United States Navy for four years on a Submarine Tender and retired from Navistar after 30 years of Service. Mike enjoyed fishing on boats in the North Bay area & buying and selling cars. Mike & Alice traveled all over the United States & Canada together.
As per Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a Private Family Burial in May.
In memory of Mike, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian National Institute for the Blind or to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
