Barbetta, Michael (Mike) Archangelo
March 30, 1938 – March 29, 2023
Quietly in the overnight, and one day shy of his 85th birthday, the world lost a legend.
Mike grew up in Toronto, the youngest of 8 children born to Gaetano (“Thomas”)
& Catherine. He had many wonderful childhood memories and loved to share stories
about his older siblings and school friends.
He had a passion for sports, playing football and baseball everywhere he lived, starting
with the East York Lions Football Club in 1957, and winding down with the Milton Men’s
Slo Pitch in 1999. He was recognized for many athletic achievements, and according to
Mike, when he hung up his cleats for good, he was the league’s oldest player to hit a
home run!
He enjoyed a lengthy career at Air Canada, where he would meet his bride Robin
(née Kornack, deceased 1992). They married in 1966 and reaped the benefits of working in
the airline industry, travelling extensively, collecting memories and matchbooks along
the way. Mike was also very passionate about music, especially old country, jazz,
rhythm & blues, and rock ’n’ roll. He would spend hours sorting deep through his
collection, taking great pleasure in compiling playlists for friends and family.
Mike was blessed with many lifelong friends, from his childhood through to his years
living in Oakville, Kirkland and Milton. He drew the respect of all who knew him.
Not one to ask for help himself, he was always quick to offer a hand to others,
often in understated, yet impactful ways.
Remembering him with love and affection are his daughters Stacey, Leslie (Jim),
Marisa, and Heather; his dear brother (and fellow cowboy) Sam (Paula, 2022);
brothers-in-law Bruce (Rowena) and Earl (Marlyn); many nieces and nephews, colleagues,
and an extensive network of great friends. He was the world’s best Papa to the apple of both
of his eyes – his granddaughter and best buddy Camille. A special thank you to cousin
Cathy Evans Barbetta. We will miss our Dad immensely. Mike and Robin can now finally
take their next long-awaited journey together.
Dad was looking forward to the spring and enjoying sunny and warmer days. In his
honour, please wear cheerful colours to his service.

McKersie & Early Funeral Home 114 Main St. E. Milton, on Sat. April 8, 2023
from 11am until 1:00pm. The Celebration of Mike’s Life will take place in the
Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00pm.
