Obituary of Melvyn MacKay
It is with sadness we announce the death of Melvyn Lloyd MacKay, 82, of Lansdowne. Melvyn passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, on May 20, 1941 he was a son of the late Chester and Isabel MacKay.
Melvyn grew up in Lansdowne and Union Centre. At a young age he became interested in farm animals. He continued this through his whole life, farming in Lansdowne. He took a great interest in 4H groups and worked and served on the board of the Pictou-North Colchester Exhibitions.
Melvyn was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch where he was an Elder and served on various church boards including maintenance of the church.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Patricia (Boutilier); son Alexander (MyKayla), Heathbell; grand daughter Ruby Mae; brother Wayne (Susan), Rocklin and sister Carolyn Cournoyea, Laduc, Alta.
There will be no visitation. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Wednesday, August 30 from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch with Rev. Bonnie Langille officiating.
