Melinda Marie Sterritt passed away on Tuesday the 23rd of May at 10:55 p.m. in her 102nd year.
She was the loving mother of Donna & David Dean of Strathroy, Dorothy & Henry Fudger of Palmerston, Jane & Gary Williamson of Harriston and Ken Sterritt of Harriston.
Grandmother to Cheryl Martens & Ernesto Vivares of Quito, Ecuador, Suzanne & Ronen Kleiman of Toronto, Nancy Fudger of Palmerston, Dennis & Barb Dean of Strathroy, Denise and Adrian Walsh, Jeanette Williamson & David Wichman of Toronto, and Mike & Krystal Williamson of Harriston.
Great-grandmother to Landon, Griffith and Nate Dean, Victoria and Olivia Walsh, Evie and Jake Kleiman, Ayel and Alex Vivares Martens, MacKenzie and Kylie Williamson.
Loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Robert Sterritt, son Gerald Sterritt, brothers Arthur, Henry, Herman, Ben, Melvin, Walter, Fred, Martin, Walter and Wilfred Rody and her sisters Edna Vessie, Martha Gateman and Anna Baack.
Melinda was born on Dec. 3, 1921 in Hanover, Ontario to Rachel and Joseph Rody. She worked at Knechtels in Hanover and in Beatty’s munitions factory in Fergus before marrying Robert Sterritt and raising her family of five children in Acton and Georgetown and moving to Minto Township in 1967. She belonged to the Women’s Church Group in Acton. She enjoyed card games, bowling and bingo with friends and doing embroidery.
Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Monday, May 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
