Byron Matthew “Mattie” McFarlane, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home, on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the age of 73.
Born in Miramichi, he was the son of the late Willard and Mary (Walsh) McFarlane. He worked at the Miramichi Regional Hospital as an electrician for over 35 years, and was a member of St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Patsy (Stewart) McFarlane of Miramichi; daughter Kara Lee McFarlane (Eric Savoie) of Fort MacMurray; son Darren McFarlane of Miramichi; four sisters Carol Ann Howe (Donald) of Miramichi, Marilyn Mazerall (Jim) of Fredericton, Maureen Dufort (Rick) of Winnipeg, and Donna Wait (John) of Fredericton; two brothers Bobby McFarlane (Linda) and Blair McFarlane (Patricia) both of Miramichi; two sisters-in-law Brenda McFarlane of Shannex and Susan McFarlane of Miramichi; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Paul, Ricky, and Darrell.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11 am, with Father Anthony Dass Papu officiating.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Extra Mural Program.
