Mary Louise Carrell
October 2, 1944-February 2, 2023
With great sadness, we announce the passing of a beautiful, devoted and amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Together with her husband of 56 years, she and Jim devoted their lives to one another and to raising their family. Her family was incredibly important to her and she was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. Throughout her life, Mary faced many challenges. Rather than giving up, Mary became a pillar of strength; leaving a beautiful legacy of unconditional love, kindness, gratitude and generosity. Her family witnessed her love of life – the laughter, her incredible sense of humor and her remarkable ability to treat everyone the same. She maintained an open-door policy and everyone was always welcome.
“Live your days to the fullest – Be kind”
For 25 years, Mary was a school bus driver in Calgary, where she was responsible for the safe transportation of deaf and handicapped children. When not working, Mary found great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends; whether it was camping, sitting around a campfire or participating in great conversation. For 12 years, Mary and Jim enjoyed their time spent in Arizona, where good times and good friends were plentiful. As life partners, Jim and Mary experienced many adventures and ensured life remained good and interesting.
Mary will forever be remembered by her loving and devoted husband, James; daughters, Dawna and Susan (Kevin); grandchildren, Kursten (Kinnen), Logan, Reid, Ethan and Sarah; great-grandson, Jackson; siblings, Bill (Marilyn) and John; daughter-in-law, Andrea; step-grandchildren, Justin and Julianna, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends from near and far.
Mary was predeceased by son, Ron; sister, Joanne; brother, Jim and parents, John and Anne.
As requested by Mary, a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
The Carrell family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Winfield Home Care for their loving care, compassion and support of our Mary. You are all very much appreciated!
For those who so desire, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made directly to the MS Society of Canada.
