Mary Orise Theresa Crossman
1931-2023
The passing of Mary Orise Theresa(Maillet) Crossman, beloved
wife of the late Josiah R. Crossman occurred peacefully at
Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on July7, 2023.
Born at Plaster Rock NB on
November 17, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and
Pheobie (Cheverie) Maillet. A loving mother, grandmother, great
grandmother and sister, she is survived by her sons: Perry (Susan) of
Utopia, Adrian (Cheryl) of Saint John NB, 9 grandchildren, several
great grandchildren, sisters: Irene (Gerald) Richard of Utopia and
Freda (Leonard) Martin of North Bay ON, as well as several nieces,
nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, husband Joe and her
son Frances, she was predeceased by her brothers: Joseph, Edward,
Arthur and Evans, and sisters: Alice, Marie, Yvonne and
Roseamay.
Orise worked for Connors Brothers for
several years and then became a full-time homemaker raising her
family. As her sons grew older, she returned to Connors Brothers until
Joe became ill, she then took on the role as his full-time nurse and
caregiver, which she did so well for 28 years. She was also a
professional singer and was the lead singer for Johnny Berry and the
Western Swingers. She was an avid guitar player and singer as well as
the harmonica player.
While she was caring for Joe,
she took up painting and created many amazing works of art. She also
was a collector of driftwood.
Orise was always a very spiritual and
religious person and even though her journey took her to many
churches, she was always devoted to Christ.
Resting at the St. George
Funeral Home & Crematorium (506-755-3533) with visiting on
Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be
held at Stella Maris Catholic Cemetery on Thursday at 2 pm. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of New
Brunswick, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of
the donors choice would be appreciated by the
family.
