Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Murphy, nee Hart, of Kirkintilloch, Scotland, later of Toronto, and more recently of Alliston, Ontario, on January 3rd 2023. Mary has now joined her dear husband James Murphy who predeceased her by more than 30 years, and whom Mary missed “every day”.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Frances (Dominic), Brenda (Jim) and her son Greg (Janet); her much-loved granddaughter Andréa and grandsons Sean, Thomas (Holly), Cameron (Becky), Connor, and Callum, and great-grandchildren Claire and Cole; her dear brother Adrian Hart and cherished sister Rosemarie Barczak (Ernest). Mary is also survived by many nieces/nephews and grand nieces/nephews in Scotland, Australia, Tasmania and Africa.
In addition to her husband James, Mary was predeceased by her parents, Emma and Adrian Hart of Hillhead, Kirkintilloch, Scotland, her brother Alex Hart and wife Sadie of Hillhead, her brother John Hart and wife Isabel of Australia, Adrian’s wife Helen of Tasmania, and James’ brother Danny and sister Mary of Scotland.
Mary’s family invites you to the visitation at the W. John Thomas Funeral Home, Alliston, on Thursday January 5th, 2-4 PM, and/or a funeral mass at St. Paul’s on Friday January 6th at 10:00 AM. Friday’s mass will be followed by internment at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory can be made to Alliston Meals-On-Wheels, Stevenson Memorial Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
