Mary (Gilks) Conners, of Blackville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 94.
Born in Blissfield, she was the daughter of the late Ranceford and Sarah (Fair) Gilks. She worked in Forrest Protection and Natural Resources and Energy, and was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, in Blackville. Mary was also a member of the A.C.W., Ladies Auxillary Branch No. 49, and an Associate Member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.49.
She will be greatly missed by her three sons Tommy (Sandra) of South Nelson, Herbie (Margaret) of Bushville, and Dwight (Deborah) of Miramichi; two daughters Donelda (Tony Peterson) of Blackville and Cheryl (Bill Witherell) of Miramichi; one sister Amy Gilks of Blackville; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Arnold Conners; brothers Herb Gilks, Maurice Gilks, Osburne (Ozzy) Gilks, and Merle Gilks; and her sisters Olive Gilks, Barbara Burns, and Charlotte Gilks.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, in Blackville, on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11 am, from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, with Father Gerry Laskey officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery at a later date.
