Obituary
Marlene Hazel Gillcash (Edgar) 88, of Lakeview Manor, formerly of Lutes Mountain passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
Marlene was born in Lutes Mountain to Leslie and Hazel (Sherwood) Edgar on February 1, 1935. She was a member of the Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene where she was active in many roles over the years; she was very proud to be hostess to Ladies Bible Study and K-Cell Group. Marlene worked as a Custodian at Magnetic Hill School until her retirement with 23 years of service. She loved being with her family, reading, listening to music and her large and ever growing teddy bear collection!
She will be sadly missed by her son Mark, daughters Ruth, Rachel Williams (David) and Esther Murray (late Gerald), as well as her grandchildren Ashley (Rae), Kayla, Jacob, Samuel, Laura, Joshua (Courtney), Jeffrey (Kaylee), Jamieson and Lia (Daniel) and by her great grandchildren Rowan, Edmund, Oliver, Levi, Kennedy, Henry, Theo, Maya, Camden, Winston and Clementine. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marlene is also survived by her brothers, Eldon and Aubrey (Joan) Edgar, her sister Phyllis Gillcash and her sisters-in-law, Doris Gillcash and Thelma Steeves. Marlene was predeceased by her husband Victor Gillcash (1986), son John (1972), parents Leslie and Hazel (Sherwood) Edgar, brothers Charles, Renwick, Clarence, Seldon (infant) and sister Emily Horsman.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral to be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dale Thistle officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery, Berry Mills.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene (www.lutesmtnchurch.com) or the charity of your choice.
