Obituary of Marjorie Agnes Megahy
Marjorie Megahy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, on the Siksika Nation. She was born on a beautiful fall day on September 19, 1928, to Tom Many Guns and Sarah Manywounds on the Tsuu’tina Nation. After her mother tragically died after childbirth, Marjorie was taken in and raised by Nurse Henderson. She was active in her youth with baseball and bowling, staying active even in her mid 90’s by walking the halls of the Siksika Elder’s Lodge. Although she faced racism in her early years of nursing, she didn’t let it deter her and proved herself many times over.
Marjorie was married twice; first to Gilbert Dickau and then to John Megahy for 57 years. She was blessed with 9 children: Beverly, Linda, Gene, Anita, Wanda, Diane, Tina, Zanna, and Jason, with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great great-grandchildren.
Mom loved the city but maybe the Rocky Mountains a bit more. It would be her final resting place – one that she would definitely approve of.
Thank you to all the Siksika Elder’s Lodge residents and staff – we appreciate all the kindness and caring you gave our mom. Rest in peace Mom, until we meet again.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Wheatland Funeral Home (Strathmore) at 2:00 p.m.
