Obituary
Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family, Marjorie Godsoe passed into the arms of her Saviour on July 22nd, 2023. Born in Millville NB to the late Harry and Annie Moore, Marjorie grew up in a hard-working farming family where she was imbued with a sense of devotion to friends, family and church. After moving to Saint John to attend Modern Business College, she worked as secretary at Scofield Paper before marrying and raising four children in the following decades, eventually coming to live in Hanford Brook. Afterwards, she spent nearly 20 years in residence at the St. Martins Lions Manor.
Marjorie’s faith was her foundation, seeking the paths of the Lord from her earliest days, trusting in his wisdom and recognizing the gift of salvation made possible by the sacrifice of our Saviour, for whom she was born again and with whom she walked throughout her life. That connection wrought a humble and unselfish soul- strong when called upon, soft and kind when needed, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sibling and friend who held her Bible until the very last. Her family will remember tapping on her living room window to find her sitting, book on aproned lap, with careworn hands resting on the pages. This dedication to a life well lived was matched by our love and affection for her.
Survived by her children Jack (Debbie) of Hanford Brook, Lorraine (Clarence), Riverbank, NB, Murray (Pat), Hanford Brook, and Sheree (Declan), Dublin Ireland, and her step-children Joan Gustafson, Pennsylvania and Shirley McCandless (Murray), Sus, NB, by eight grandchildren (Carolyn, Stephen, Nolan, Ben, Aaron, Joshua, Emily, and Vanessa), eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Lloyd King, by second husband Howard Godsoe, and siblings Harry Moore, Elsie Gregg and Douglas Moore, and by granddaughter Neely Gillcrist and stepson Henry Godsoe.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, July 26th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place at Fundy Funeral Home on Thursday, July 27th at 1:30 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Mosher Hill Cemetery, St Martins, NB.
Special thanks go out to Dr Luan Le, Abby & Sue and staff of 5C South Saint John Regional Hospital as well as Palliative Care.
To those who wish, remembrances to the ALS Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
1 Corinthians 2:9: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man, the things God hath prepared for those who love him.”
