Hogan, Marion Leota – Died peacefully on Tuesday July 25, 2023 at the Georgetown Hospital, in her 98th year. Devoted wife of the late Richard Hogan (1997) and loving Mother of Martha and Russ (Vicki). Adored Grandma of Ali Hogan (Adrian Joseph) and Chris Hogan (Cassandra Leal) and Great Grandma of Oscar, Sofia and Veronica. Marion was predeceased by her brother Hugh Macdonald and by her sisters Betty Keats, Helen Wake and Eleanor Forsyth.
Marion graduated as a Registered Nurse from Hamilton General Hospital in 1948. She continued her studies at the University of Toronto where she specialized in Obstetrics. She was the first Head Nurse of Obstetrics when the Georgetown Hospital opened in 1961. She continued to work in many departments of the hospital including ER, surgery and recovery until she retired in 1986. In retirement, Marion and Richard enjoyed travelling throughout Canada in their camper. Marion enjoyed playing bridge, lawn bowling and other activities at the Senior Centre as well as travels with her sisters.
A celebration of Marion’s life will be held on Saturday September 16, 2023 at St. John’s United Church, 11 Guelph St. Georgetown ON. Visitation will be at 10:30 am, followed by the celebration of her life at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation or the St. John’s United Church would be appreciated.
