Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Artemise Stevens wish to announce her passing, which occurred on August 3, 2023, at her residence, the Loch Lomond Villa. She was born on September 13, 1936, to the late Alexander and Olive (Benoit) LeBreton.
She and Leonard were married at Stella Maris Church on February 9, 1959. She was always an active member of Stella Maris Parish. Marie always had a great love for children and was considered the mother of mothers not only by her children, Patricia, Robert and Leonard Jr., but by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and the neighborhood families. She volunteered with the United Way and the South End Day Care.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia, sisters; Regina Gerrar (Guy) and Theresa Franck, grandchildren; Melina, Amanda, Jennifer, Brandon and Brittany, great-grandchildren; Crystal, Alexis, Isaiah, Aliyah, Asher, Abel, Abigail, and Soren, along with several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Besides her husband Leonard Sr, she was predeceased by her sons; Robert and Leonard Jr, brothers; Lionel, Leo, Geron, Peter, Victor, and Aldee LeBreton, sisters; Eva LeRoche, Delia Doiron, and Rita Stewart.
Following cremation, the family will receive relatives and friends at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (506-646-2424), from 4-6pm on Tuesday August 8, 2023. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Stella Maris Church followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the IWK Kids Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
