LANE-SMITH, Margot Millicent (May 29, 1933 – August 1, 2023)
Passed away peacefully into the welcoming arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at her late residence in Vienna, Ontario at the age of 90. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Stephen (Marie), Mark (Joanna), Andrew, Ruth (Martin Vendryes), and Tim (Linda). Proud and loving grandmother of 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Survived by two sisters, Gillian, and Deborah. Predeceased by four brothers, Roger, Brandon, Jeremy, and John Jackson.
Born in Manchester, England, Margot trained and worked as a nurse (operating “theatre sister”) until she married in 1959. She has lived in Canada since 1967, raising her 5 children, and in later years enjoying her ever expanding family. She first put her faith in Christ at age 13 and has spent the rest of her life following and serving him. Her life has deeply impacted many many people as she has boldly and compassionately shared her life and faith. In later years she suffered from progressive Alzheimer’s dementia but even then, never lost sight of her hope in Christ, bringing blessing to many until her last day.
Public visitation and viewing will be held on Monday, August 7th, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway St., Tillsonburg. Funeral Service to celebrate Margot’s life to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. For those wishing to attend digitally, the funeral service will be livestreamed. A direct link will be provided on Margot’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com (under photos and videos), approximately half an hour prior to the service. A direct link can be requested by emailing a request to verhoevefuneral@kwic.com prior to Monday. Interment follows in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Vienna.
