BARCLAY, Margaret Janet: Peacefully at Hospice Peterborough with her family by her side on Monday, July 17, 2023 in her 82nd year. Margaret, beloved wife of the late Ron Barclay. Loving and devoted mother of Kathy Blackwood (Shawn), Eva Barclay, predeceased, Maryl DeJong (Joe), and Sarah Barclay (Tom Sharpe). Cherished Grandmother of Shawna, Emma, Chris, Liz, Abby, and Alex. Dear sister of the late Mary McChesney (Al, surviving). Daughter of the late Louis Billings and Isabelle Sinclair. Marg was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario graduating from the University of Toronto P.O.T.s programme in 1962. She made lifelong friends while working a Peterborough Civic Hospital as a physiotherapist, continuing to meet regularly with her dinner group over 25 years of retirement. Her golf ‘posse’ and gym group were so important to her and provided ongoing support and friendship over the last few years. Throughout her life Marg was involved with Skate Canada as a skater, coach and extensively as a volunteer judge and evaluator. Her volunteer efforts extended to the Peterborough Figure Skating Club, sewing hundreds of carnival costumes and acting as a board member. Marg was an avid knitter and sewer, always having something under the presser foot or on the needles. Most recently, knitting mittens and sweater to donate to the Salvation Army and the PRHC gift shop. All of her grandchildren and many friends and newcomers to Canada have her quilts on their beds. Special thanks to the entire palliative care team including Dr. Morelli, Dr. Winning, Jane mark and all the staff at Hospice Peterborough for working tirelessly and at all hours to honour Marg’s wishes. Relatives and friends are invited to Margaret’s Celebration of Life Reception at Highland Park Funeral Centre, 2510 Bensfort Road, Peterborough on Tuesday, July 25th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
