MARGARET DELI
It is with profound sorrow and pain that the families of Margaret Deli from Tillsonburg, Ontario announce her passing on Tuesday April 25th at the Tillsonburg Hospital at the age of 96. Mom put up a valiant fight from a sudden illness. She passed quietly and peacefully with family at her bedside. She was an amazing person always gracious, warm hearted and loving. Mom made a point of making everyone welcome. She was multi-talented with considerable skills. Her interests included her family and extended family members, the family events shared by all, gardening, landscaping, oil painting, toll painting, decorating, stained glass projects and, best of all her cooking and baking in true Hungarian style. One of Mom’s goals was to master as many skills as possible and strive to achieve the best results. Many of her projects continue to be prized possessions within the family. Our Mother leaves a legacy filled with the highest of standards for all of us to emulate – unconditional love, respect for each other, support within and outside the family unit, joy and thankfulness for everyday lived, kindness to all and learn to forgive.
Mom was born in Hungary on June 25, 1926 to Ethel Biro (Kontra) and John Biro Senior. The family immigrated to Canada and settled in Alberta. They moved to Leamington and finally settled on a farm south of Tillsonburg. She met and married the neighbourhood boy Alex Deli from the farm across the road. They had 3 children – Susan Salaens (late husband Terry Salaens) of Tillsonburg, Richard Deli of Tillsonburg and Ronald Deli (Carol) of Milton. She supported her children in their endeavors but strongly believed in getting an education in order to move forward with their lives. She was a very proud Mom and reveled in their accomplishments. She loved and nurtured her grandchildren and sought to teach them life lessons, love, sharing, family bonds and respect. She was proud of Katheryn Yallop (Aaron) of Milton Shannon Caslin of Burlington, Shawn Deli (Samantha) of Milton, Shea Deli of Milton, Marcie Fallowfield (Marty) of St. Thomas, Bryan Saelens (Laura) of Niagara Falls. The pride and absolute joy were the little ones the great grandchildren who loved to sit and listen to her stories and get her hugs and kisses – Dominic Caslin of Burlington, Aria Deli of Milton, Sienna Deli of Milton, Rykden Yallop of Milton, Everett Deli of Milton, Treiten Fallowfield of St. Thomas, Megan Fallowfield, Jaden Crocker (Dave) of St. Thomas, Bryson Saelens of Niagara Falls, Audrey Saelens of Niagara Falls, Everlyn Saelens of Niagara Falls. Mom celebrated her great great grandchildren Brexton, Daxson, Lennix and Dixyn Crocker all from St. Thomas. Mom has many nieces and nephews scattered across our area and in Hungary who will miss her. Many friends and acquaintances will also feel the loss of this truly unique and amazing woman.
Mom was predeceased by immediate family her parents, her sister Priscilla, her brother John Biro, her brother Carl Biro, nephew Albert Biro, nephew Anthony Deli, father-in-law Alex Deli Senior, mother-in-law Julia Deli, sister-in-law Olga Deli, brother-in-law Louis Deli, sister-in-law Julia Kaberle and brother-in-law Gordon Deli.
