SANBORN, Margaret Ann
Aged 78, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023 at Kingston General Hospital in Kingston, Ontario.
Born in Montreal at the Royal Victoria Hospital on June 27, 1944 and grew up in South Roxton, Quebec to John and Mary Sanborn. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Paul Timmers, devoted mother to Richard and mother-in-law to Paula, and a loving grandmother to Hannah, Emma, and William Carr. Margaret was also a caring sister to Janet (and the late Duane Smith), a doting aunt to Michael (Shellie), Christopher (Carey), Jeffrey (Sally), and many great-nieces and nephews. Margaret had a gift for making lifelong friendships and had a circle of close friends who she considered family. One of these friends was Craig Powley, who she cherished and confided in for many years. Margaret’s capacity for empathy and her non-judgmental nature made her a natural confidant to those around her. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued, and her genuine care for others left a lasting impact. Her friendships were a testament to her kind and loving heart, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Margaret graduated as a Registered Nurse from Montreal General Hospital and dedicated her career to being a compassionate and caring RN at Kingston Hotel Dieu Hospital. After retiring from her nursing career, she became a successful pub owner known for her friendly smile, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Margaret had a passion for animals, especially her beloved black Labradors, Ben, who she considered her faithful companions and friends. She was a long-time supporter of the Kingston Humane Society and made numerous charitable donations to support their cause among various other charities.
Margaret’s warm personality, infectious laughter, and kind heart will always be remembered. She touched the lives of many and was known as a second mom to those lucky enough to know her. Her generosity and love of life will be her legacy.
A future celebration of life will be held in Margaret’s honour, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kingston Humane Society. Condolences and donations may be forwarded through wartmanfuneralhomes.com
