Manetta Pauline Rothwell
It is with great sadness that the family of Manetta Pauline Rothwell announce the passing of their dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on August 1, 2023, at age 89.
Manetta was predeceased by her loving husband Ronald of 64 years, their infant daughter Margo Jan, her parents Gottfried and Hulda Arndt, 2 infant siblings Pauline and Leo, sisters Lillian Krause, Lydia Jesse and Elsie Tafelmeyer, and brothers Karl Arndt and Ewaldt Arndt. She is survived by her brother August Arndt of Regina.
Manetta was born in the Arcola Hospital on June 1st, 1934, and grew up on the family farm near Willmar, Saskatchewan. Following high school she went into training at the Regina General Hospital where she became a Registered Nurse. After graduation she and Ron were married, and she worked as an RN on the pediatric ward until she had children of her own. Manetta enjoyed vacationing at the family cottage at White Bear Lake, and later at Regina Beach. She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church for many years. Manetta was very artistic and did all kinds of needlework and sewing. After Ron’s retirement they enjoyed gardening, yearly trips to Vancouver and Lethbridge, and spending time with family. Proud of her children, prouder of her grandchildren and proudest of her great-grandchildren, Manetta would tell you that her greatest source of love and achievement was her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Scott (Mavis) Rothwell of Regina, Roger (Mary) Rothwell of Regina, Trent (Deanna Nielsen) Rothwell of Vancouver, and Kathryn (Randall) Brandt of Lethbridge; her 8 grandchildren Krista (Chris) Brooks, Jordan (Rajita) Rothwell, Micheil Rothwell, Graham Rothwell, Kristine Rothwell, Tessa (John) Rothwell , Jonah Nielsen, and Zoe Rothwell; and great-grandchildren Charlee, Christian and Owen.
A private family graveside service will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
