Laurie Carter
For the past 14 years, if you asked a hundred people who Lorraine (Laurie) Carter was, they would all say her biggest role was the dearest Grandmother of Matthew and Owen. With great love and deep sadness, we advise Laurie passed peacefully, at home, in the presence of family on July 17, 2023. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, William (Bill) Carter, her treasured twin daughters Angela Lovely (Jason) and Kimberly Carter and grandsons Matthew Lovely and Owen Carter. Also left to mourn are her loving brothers Bill Hewitt (Patricia), Gerry Hewitt and sister Sharon Fohring. She will also be dearly missed by her niece Karin Fohring and Karin’s children Christa, Brent and Jahziah.
Laurie is also survived by and fondly remembered by her Carter in-laws, Muriel Touchings, Joe Carter, Barbara Carter, Susan Burr, nieces, nephews, and friends. Laurie was predeceased by her beloved parents Arthur (2013) and Donna Hewitt (1999). Also predeceased by Bill and Effie Carter, Lloyd Carter, Anne Dawson, Joe Touchings, Jack Tillson, Edward Burr, Pat Carter.
Laurie showed immense, abiding love for her family and a keen interest in local and world happenings. A very special time for Laurie was being at their trailer. She could always be found at her favourite spot, the campfire. She also really enjoyed evenings at Mohawk, betting on the horses with the strangest names. Our laughter could be heard as she scooped up her winnings.
A public Memorial Service for Laurie will be held on July 29, 2023 at 10:30am at Knox Presbyterian Church, 132 Argyle Street North, Cambridge, Ontario. Following this service, friends and family are invited to a Celebration of
her Life from 12pm to 4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion (Hespeler Branch), 26 Schofield Street, Cambridge, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place. Private family internment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
