HICKEY, Mary ‘Lois’ (née Murray)
At the age of 87, Lois passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on August 16, 2023. Lois will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 62 years, Clair. Cherished mother of Christine (Steve), Dan (Kathleen), and Suzanne (Phil). Proud grandmother of Erin (Eric), Andrew (Michelle), Colleen, Ian, and Shannon. Treasured great grandmother of Aubree. Beloved sister-in-law of Jean Heffernan. Predeceased by her parents, Fergus and Lillian Murray, her brother Frank, sisters-in-law, Nellie Gifford, Lucille George, Marcella Sullivan, Eileen Maloney, Marguerite Young, and brother-in-law, Michael (Mac) Hickey. Lois will be fondly remembered by her extended family, friends, and former students. Lois lost her mother at the tender age of two years old and was raised by her grandmother and aunts in Downeyville, Ontario. She began her teaching career in Windsor, Ontario, working as an educator at various elementary schools before finishing her career at St. Martin’s Elementary School in Ennismore, Ontario. A memorial Mass is being held at St. Martin’s Church in Ennismore on Saturday, August 26th at 11:00 am. Lunch to follow in the parish hall. Interment at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of your choice are greatly appreciated.
