RICE, Lloyd (1936-2023)
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Lloyd Rice at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron, Ontario on July 13, 2023 at the age of 86 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Alice Rice nee Pilon (2012), his parents Roch Rice (1973) and Jeanne Rice nee Leblanc (2004), his father-in-law Roland Pilon (2003) and mother-in-law Irene Pilon nee McMillan (2006).
Devoted father to Carole Richard (Denis) of Hanmer. Also a son Richard. Cherished and admired grandfather to Brittany, Gabrielle, and Caroline all of Sudbury, Abigail of Toronto, late Adam (1988) and late Makayla (1998). Adoring and proud great-grandfather to Donald “Donny” Dowdall. Dear brother of the late George (2012) (Jeanine), late Roland (2015) (France) and late Lenny (1992) (Irene). Brother-in-law to late Gerard (2010), Lucille Bastien (late Ken), late Robert (2003), René, late Jean-Paul (2015) (late Gloria 2008), late Daniel (2020) (Yolande), Denise Sarazin (Fern), Normand, and Colette Pilon.
Born in Gogama, Ontario in 1936, Lloyd grew up in Timmins where he lived and worked many years for the Paymaster Mine, Canadian Johns Mansville Mine, and later became a proud Timmins Transit Bus Driver where he retired after 24 years of dedicated service. Afterwards, he and his wife Alice retired in Hanmer, Ontario to be closer to their daughter Carole and grandchildren. His greatest joy and pastime was the time he spent with his family camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and even bicycling into his early 80s. A graveside burial service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery (895 Pine St. S., Timmins, ON, Section A1). Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
