Peacefully, on Friday, December 30, 2022, in his one hundredth year. Devoted husband of the late Adele Galler. Beloved father and father-in-law of Marilynne Malkin and Miki Lane, Cheryl Malkin and Leon Boudreau, Helen Malkin and Mario Sinai. Proud grandfather of Michael Sinai and fiancée Aubrey Sutter, Emma Sinai and fiancé Matt Salaciak. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Herbert and the late Esther Saltzman, the late Ben and the late Edith and the late Lottie Malkin; and brother-in-law of the late Laura and the late Leo Schwartz. Lionel will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Richard Malkin and Shirley Caron, Barbara and Paul Epton, Eric and Dorothy Malkin, David Saltzman and Yvette Gagnon, Stanley and Mariella Saltzman, Yossi and Dana Saltzman, Martin and Sondra Schwartz, Alan and Joyce Schwartz, Jeffrey and Anne Schwartz, and their families. Lionel will be lovingly remembered by his family, his dear friend Ruth Goldner, as well as by many other friends of all generations in Montreal, St. Albans Bay, Vermont and Longboat Key, Florida. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Maria Bosanyi, Julie Tibuc, Margaret Wardally, and Monique Wilson for their exceptional care, kindness and love. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, January 3 at 12:00 noon. Burial at the Dominion Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily through Thursday evening.
