It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Bucky (Leonard Joseph) Barter on August 11th, 2023 at the age of 70 years.
Bucky (as he was known by everyone) will be remembered for his “bigger than life” presence wherever he went and his passionate feelings for so many things in life. He was a prankster at heart and could be heard calling out nicknames to so many of his friends as he drove around town. He was an avid sports enthusiast playing in many activities over the years. He never gave up hope that his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Team would one day win a Stanley Cup.
Bucky would be seen daily walking Ned’s and Devil’s Ponds Walking Trails. He loved the wildlife at the Pond and would be so happy watching them grow from babies to adults.
He leaves: his wife of 45 years Dolores; his brother Dave (Marie) Barter; his sisters: Blanche (Wayne) Alexander and Debra (Jerry) Smith; his mother-In-law Edna Dean; his sisters-in-law: Lorraine (George) Park and Beverly (Keith) Pottle; his special niece Deanna Park (Myron Jesso) and nephew Bradley Park and grand niece Lily Shea, Bucky loved these three as his own.
Bucky had so many more friends, nieces and nephews. There are just too many to mention. But we can’t forget his most beloved fur pal, Buddy, who took his daily walk with Bucky around the Ponds.
He was predeased by: his mother and father, Josephine and Alexander Barter; his father-in-law George Dean; his brother Alex Barter; and his sisters: Betty Stark, Eileen Phillips, and Patsy Bennett.
Following Bucky’s wishes, cremation had taken place and there will be no formal visitation at this time.
Our hope is that Bucky is flying high with the Angels, nicknaming them, pranking them and probably giving them a hard time for disagreeing with him.
