Leanne passed away on April 16, 2023 at the Rising Sun LTC at the age of 79, Leanne lost her battle to cancer.
She is survived by her husband Stan, of 57 years. Two sons, Warren (Amanda) and Bryce (Darlene) two grandsons Ryan and Michael. And two granddaughters, Qwinn and Fallon.
Leanne was born in Leduc along with her older brothers (Roger, Forbes) and sisters (Norma, Janice, Irene and Julie who was later born in Revelstoke, BC.
She was predeceased by her mother, Eva and father William. Her brother, Roger and two sisters Norma and Julie.
Leanne was a gifted and talented individual – artistically in many ways, she was a business woman where she designed flowers for weddings, graduations and many other special occasions in Calgary. When time permitted, she would paint, and do various needle work. Her favorite subjects were roses and poppies and to some degree, some still work of nature and its environment.
She also loved her animals Max, Maggie, Finnigan and of course, her horses. One of her biggest enjoyments was to get up early and feed the horses – it was those powerful animals that came to her with kindness and energy that gave her that joy.
Over the past number of years, she managed to write books on the turn of the century dealing with several woman (fictional) in the early years in Montana – her research dealt with the medical field and how it helped open the west and the influence they had in that region.
We are grateful to all the medical staff at the Foothills Hospital, Tom Baker Centre and the Oilfields General Hospital in Diamond Valley as well as the Rising Sun LTC in Diamond Valley. Thank you for your support, dedication and professionalism. You are amazing people and we thank you for being there in our time of need.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
