Obituary For Laure Joyce Jarvis
May 30, 1952 – January 27, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Laure Joyce Jarvis on January 27th, 2023. Laure passed away peacefully with family by her side, at hospice, after a 5 month battle with liver disease, at age 70 years.
Laure was born May 30th, 1952, in High Prairie Alberta, to parents, Leonard and Joyce Anderson. Laure was the eldest of 3 siblings…brothers Brent (Darlene) of High Level AB , and Craig (Sandi) of Grimshaw AB.
Laure is survived by loving husband Gary, sons, Dean Jarvis (Michelle), of Peace River, born in 1972, Michael Jarvis (Jen) born in 1980, and daughter Lisa Fedan (nee Jarvis ) born in 1984. Laure also loved her grandchildren, Kierra, Cooper, Toree, Rylan, Ainslie, Charlotte, and Madeline as well as her aunt Marlene of Calgary AB.
Laure enjoyed flying, (she received her pilots license at age 18), reading, crocheting, camping with her family, going to music festivals with Gary, and loved spending quality time with her grandchildren .
She was predeceased by parents, Leonard and Joyce Anderson, aunt and uncle, Bob and Jeanette Taback, as well as other relatives.
Laure graduated in 1970, and attended college later. She worked for several banks as a teller until she met her husband, Gary in Edmonton in 1978. They were married in 1979 in Edmonton, then moved to Langley BC for 8 years, then to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, where Laure worked for Investor’s Group for 17 years. The family moved to Peace River AB in 2002 after her youngest daughter, Lisa, graduated high school. Laure continued to work for Investor’s Group for 3 more years when she decided to try something new, and was hired by Alberta Health Services as a Clerk at the Peace River Correctional Centre, where she worked until retirement in 2020. Laure and Gary decided to move to Grande Prairie to be closer to family, and in 2022 she fell ill and was diagnosed with late stage liver disease. Laure battled hard for 5 months, but unfortunately succumbed to the disease . Gary’s angel now resides in God’s glorious kingdom.
Cremation was at Bear Creek Funeral Home in Grande Prairie Alberta. A Celebration of Laure’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Liver Foundation, or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Laure felt strongly about these foundations.
